Saal Digital Fotoservice GmbH is one of the leading suppliers of photo products in Europe. It is my go-to store for anything that has to do with printing as they are just doing a fabulous job. Below you find a review and some more information about their wall decorations – here especially the photo canvas option.

This time I decided to use their Saal Design Software, which can simply be downloaded to your computer in order to set up your prints. Choose one of the options such as photo canvas and start creating your prints. When using the creator make sure you understand the cutting marks correctly. There is also a description of how not to frame your photos in order to have a good cutting on the edges. I initially thought the canvas will be completely printed until the sides, but I realized that I framed the pictures in the inner part of the layout (within the red side). So this means I have white corners on my picture. However, I actually really enjoy the white frame around the pictures even more then when it is printed all the way to the corner as I had it on earlier prints.

I also added my own logo on the bottom left of the photos with gives them a special furstonetravels touch. After I set up my 6 prints in 4:5 (40cm x 50cm) ratio I ordered directly and paid the remaining with PayPal, which was quick and easy.
Here I am, just 2 days later the prints arrived, how freaking quick is that? When I unpackaged them I instantly realized the great packing. Each and every print is wrapped additionally with a cartonnage on the front to save the prints from any scratches or problems during the delivery and then wrapped in a plastic foil so they are stable during the transport.

Further, I noticed the amazing quality of the canvas which fits perfectly for my animal photography and landscape photos. The printed fabric is beautiful and high quality and even stretched by hand.
I will use some of the prints as decor for the living room of my parents. They fit perfectly to the green colors of the plants around and definitely bring some Sahara vibes from South Africa into the atmosphere. The rest will be given out to some of my followers during challenges in the next months.
I am highly convinced by the prints in every way. The only negative point I would have is the black colors on the prints. However, I am uncertain if this is due to the fact, that my photos, in general, are quite dark and moody. Before ordering I tried to increase the brightness of the images already a bit, as I had a similar experience with printing before. It turns out that the blacks on the animal prints are quite strong, so I would try to decrease my contrasts and blacks a bit for the next prints in order to get an even better outcome. Saal Digital was so kind to also give me some feedback considering the specific issue. They explained that there could be slight brightness differences between the computer version (JPG) and the print, as the pictures on the computer are usually lightened up from the back of the screen. As this is not the case with the canvas there might be slight differences and automated image improvement should be selected in the software. If you are interested in how to make the most out of the lighting of your images when printing read this blog article. https://www.saal-digital.de/support/article/bilder-sind-im-vergleich-zum-bildschirm-zu-dunkel/ Generally, I would recommend increasing the brightness of your images a bit more.
Thanks so much for reading and I hope I can convince you to try out Saal Digital the next time you are thinking of printing!
